Hello Fresh: Tarragon Chicken & Wheat Berry Salad with Radishes, Dried Cherries & Almonds

IMG_0387

The first meal I made from Hello Fresh was the Tarragon Chicken & Wheat Berry Salad with Radishes, Dried Cherries & Almonds. This meal was pretty good but it was ultimately my least favorite of the three because of the textures in the chicken salad. The wheat berries were weird and the consistency was just not good to me.

Food Service Delivery: Hello Fresh

Tags

IMG_0289And we are finally at the last service I tried, Hello Fresh. Hello Fresh offers meals for 2,4 and 6 people with options for 3 or 4 meals delivered a week. They have the standard meat/fish/poultry box or a vegetarian box. The box I got was the 3 meals for 2 people, which is $69.99 a week. While this option is pricier than Blue Apron, it is still cheaper than plated. At this point all of my deliveries were starting to look the same so I posed this box on my porch.

Review: Dazzle Candles

IMG_0169

Last Christmas, my Aunt Shannon got me a really cool Diamond Candle, which is a candle that has a diamond ring inside that is valued at either $10, $100, $500 or $5000. Basically, I love candles and treasure hunts so pretty soon I found myself buying them up. The first company I tried was Dazzle Candles. Their candles range from $9.99 to $17.99 and they also let you pick what size ring you receive. I have man hands so this was an important factor for me. I picked my three candles and literally watched them burn.

For the third and final delivery from Blue Apron, I had the Stewed Mushrooms with Creamy Goat Cheese Polenta & Fresh Herb Salad. Unfortunately, this was one of the biggest disappointments out of the entire experience. I didn’t understand what happened but this dish just did not come together for me.

Blue Apron: Vegetable Bibimbap with Asparagus, Shiitake Mushrooms & Fried Eggs

IMG_0355The second dish I made from my Blue Apron delivery was Vegetable Bibimbap with Asparagus, Shiitake Mushrooms & Fried Eggs. Out of the three dishes, this ended up being my favorite. I love Bibimbap and it is not something that you can find easily so I was really excited to be able to make it on my own. Also–it is not often in general that I get to eat Korean food so I was pretty happy all the way around.

Review: Perfect Crush Herb Grinder

IMG_0719Lately my blog has turned into somewhat of a food blog. I am not sure how it happened but I love food and products that can be used with food. My friends over at Perfect Crush have a herb grinder that is a great tool in the kitchen. It can grind herbs, spices, tobacco and even some more nefarious plants if that is your thing. I tried it out last weekend and of course, you can click on for the results.

Blue Apron: Orecchiette Pasta with English Peas, Pecorino Cheese & Mint

Tags

IMG_0319The first meal I tried from Blue Apron was the Orecchiette Pasta with English Peas, Pecorino & Mint. I think this recipe was pretty easy to follow and was actually an overall solid dish. I think it would have been nice with maybe some sliced ham (like a Carbonara) but overall it was nice and a solid start to the Blue Apron taste test.

Review: 42 BEES Slant Tip Tweezers

IMG_0709 I have bushy eyebrows. I might also have some other errant facial hair growing around. I have tried several different types of threading and waxing to remove but I have to admit, I always go back to my old standby; the tweezers. My friends over at 42 BEES have these awesome Slant Tip Tweezers that come with a little comb on the end. This is so helpful when it comes to grooming and they gave me an extra pair to give away so keep reading!

Food Delivery Service: Blue Apron

IMG_0246While my Plated reviews were decent, they didn’t wow me. So, I was absolutely thrilled to get my Blue Apron delivery.I opted for a Wednesday delivery and it was at my door step by the time I got home at 5:30. Although it was actually delivered to my neighbor’s house, so this is his door. Blue Apron is pretty similar to Plated in operation but it works a little different financially. You can order 3 meals for 2 people for a cost of $59.94, which is $9.99 per person. There is also a family plan where you can order 2 or 4 meals for 4 people; the 2 meal plan is $69.92 which is $8.74 per person or the 4 meal plan which is $139.84 (still $8.74 per person). Like Plated, you can skip weeks you don’t want and cancel at any time. Blue Apron has more delivery days though, Wednesday through Saturday, which is nice for flexibility, while Plated just has Tuesday and Friday. Besides that, the packaging was pretty similar. Review: Jökel Unbreakable Stemless Silicone Wine Glasses

IMG_0511

I love wine and I love my wine glasses. But my biggest worry about my wine glasses is that they can break easily.  That and water stains; they are so unsightly. My friends over at Jökel have Unbreakable Stemless Silicone Wine Glasses that are pretty freaking awesome. Yes! You read that right, they are unbreakable. I tested.
