End of 2018 Project Use It Up

Wow. It has been over 2 years since I have posted on this blog. Not a lot has changed. I still try new products and I still an influenced to buy a lot of products. The downside of that is that I get a ton of cool products and do not always get to use them or they are forgotten. Because of this, I decided to do a Project Use It Up. In fact, I am doing two; one featured here and another, featuring beauty and makeup, that which will be on my beauty blog Lipstick Bites. For this specific project, I chose to tackle my ever-growing planner supplies. I have chosen 5 products–ok, some of the products are actually several things that make up one thing–that I want to use up or make a dent in by the end of 2018. So, 3 months to make a big impact on my planner supplies (lies).

Seems easy enough. Check which products I use after the jump! Continue reading

Diamond Candle Review

IMG_0055

I know it has been a while since I have kept this blog active and I am not even going to offer any excuses except to say that hopefully I can write more in the future. Even though I have not kept the blog up, I have still been using products. About a year ago, I reviewed Diamond Candles and while there were pros and cons I ultimately ended up really liking the Diamond Candles. Back in the summer per many recommendations from friends and family I decided to try out several companies. The first company I reviewed was Dazzle Candles and I quite liked them. The next company I tried was actually a second review of Diamond Candles. This was mainly because I wanted to burn more candles and find more diamonds.

Cocktail Courier Review

IMG_1914

While I really enjoyed trying all the food delivery companies, something was definitely missing from the meals. Booze. I was happy to find that there are companies who will delivery liquor right to your door step. Not just liquor but the ingredients to make a classic or artisanal cocktail. This may come as a shocker but I do not go out drinking much which really sucks because I love to drink. In moderation of course. Click to see my adventures with Cocktail Courier.

The results of my first taste test were inconclusive. (Sorry, I have watched Forensic Files a lot lately) I decided to get another box of food from each company to get a better sample. And to eat. I am happy to report that the second offerings from each company were much better. In fact, the second taste test did not really help me narrow down which company is better at all. The first time around on Plated, I chose 3 meals for $72. The second time, I decided to try two meals and a dessert which was $56. I actually oddly felt this was a more reasonable price. I think the biggest negative with Plated is that it is just pricey and some of the meals are more expensive than going out. This may not be a good option for a large family or a family on a strict budget but there is definitely a market for this product.

Delivery

I had a fun and delicious experience with my food deliveries. But guess what? I tried them all again because I felt like I really couldn’t judge the companies without having a second test group. But before I jump into that, I am going to give you a recap of each company and some links so you can try these meals yourself.

Hello Fresh: Cuban-Style Beef Picadillo with Red Beans & Rice

IMG_0408The second dish I made from Hello Fresh was Cuban-Style Beef Picadillo with Red Beans & Rice. Now I was a little concerned with this dish in the beginning. I love Cuban food and it is hard to find in San Diego, so in the very least I was hoping it just tasted Cuban.
