I hate to kill the suspense but Hello Fresh is my favorite food delivery company. Each company I tried definitely have their perks (which I will get into later) but overall, I liked the Hello Fresh recipes the best. Thankfully for you, I am going to tell you all about how I came to that conclusion after the jump.

Seared Provencal Steak with Three-Bean Salad

The first meal of my second taste test was Seared Provencal Steak with Three-Bean Salad. This meal is basically what I love about Hello Fresh, it is simple yet still intriguing with the bean salad. This was probably one of the easiest recipes across all the recipes I tried.

The prep was pretty simple. Rinse and stem the beans and chop the tomatoes, shallot and parsley. This was the first time I had used parsley to actually cook with. You can also see how I use the bag to dump all the trash so I am cutting down on waste.

I made the bean salad dressing with oil, parsley, shallots, and white wine vinegar. I rather liked this dressing and have used it again with just green beans to the same results. Delicious.

I got the steak going in the cast iron with the herbes de Provence. I am not sure what these herbes are, but I can assure you they were tasty. Also–once you cook a steak in a cast iron, it is hard to want it any other way.

While my steak was cooking, I finished the bean salad. First I boiled the wax and green beans.

Once those bad boys were done, I added the cannellini beans, tomatoes and the dressing I made.

Yumbers! This dish was delicious and so simple. Also–I love recipes that only need a few dishes. That bean salad was really good, like I mentioned earlier, I have made an abridged version just using the green beans and I found it to be just as lovely. At this moment, I pretty much knew that Hello Fresh was my favorite but I still had two more meals to go.

Smoky Adobo Chicken Tacos with Mango Slaw and Lime Crema

IMG_0492

The Smoky Adobo Chicken Tacos with Mango Slaw & Lime Crema were amazing. And again, pretty simple. The flavors of the adobo sauce are so smoky and delicious. I can see myself making these when I get a craving for something spicy.

IMG_0497

Honestly, the mango was a pain. But because it was so delicious, I was willing to overlook it. I peeled and sliced the mango, zested and halved the limes.

IMG_0498

I made the lime crema by adding lime juice and some zest to sour cream. This was so refreshing and important to balance the spiciness of the adobo sauce.

IMG_0500

I mixed the mango with cilantro and lime juice. I was supposed to have onion but I was not feeling it.

IMG_0501

I was supposed to butterfly the chicken and slather the adobo sauce on it. I do not know why I did not butterfly the chicken but this was actually not the chicken meant for this dish. In the plated post, I referenced getting my chicken mixed up and so I must have gotten confused.

IMG_0502

I was supposed to make guacamole but I thought avocado slices would suit better with the tacos. And I was too lazy.

IMG_0503

And yet another improv, I decided to burn cook the tortillas on the stove. I know I have strayed away from the recipe multiple times but I promise it stilled tasted good.

IMG_0504

Then I assembled. I sliced the avocado and added it but honestly, the meal did not even need the avocado. The spiciness of the adobo with the tangy crema and sweet mango was delicious. I was so excited to eat my leftovers at work.

That mango slaw though.

Pan Seared Pork Chops with Summer Vegetable Kebabs & Oregano-Mint Pesto

IMG_0555

This meal was the Grand Slam. Like I knew Hello Fresh was delicious but the Pan Seared Pork Chops with Summer Vegetables Kebabs & Oregano-Mint Pesto was truly pleasant. I made this on a hot summer day and it was perfect.

IMG_0556

Per usual, I started out with the prep; two garlic piles, lemon, zest and mint.

IMG_0557

In a separate bowl, I put the potatoes, peppers, zucchini and onions.

IMG_0558

My friend and I assembled our own kebabs. This part was actually pretty fun. Hers are the ones with zucchini on the right, mine are on the left. I hate zucchini so I skipped it. We honestly could have made a few more skewers but I did not want to over crowd my baking sheet.

IMG_0559

One of the main things I love about Hello Fresh is the pork option. They often have a pork option and they are always a good cut. These pork chops were beautiful.

IMG_0560

This pesto was so good. After we ran out of the sauce we were literally wiping the pork on the side of the blender to get more pesto. The recipe did not call for it to be blended but I was lazy and I do not regret that decision. This pesto was so good. I still think about it.

IMG_0561

Look at that sear! A misconception of cooking pork is that it needs a ton of spices but  the quality of the sear is much more important.

IMG_0562

So good. This meal was the real push. It was really good. The skewers were fun and even children would like them. The pork was cooked perfectly and the pesto sauce was beautiful. The meal was incredibly simple and yummy. I will definitely be making this dish again.

Hello Fresh has my heart. Since this post, they have cut back a lot of waste and are now using boxes and recycled cardboard for their deliveries. While I have lost my trash bag, the boxes are easer to recycle.
