Delivery

I had a fun and delicious experience with my food deliveries. But guess what? I tried them all again because I felt like I really couldn’t judge the companies without having a second test group. But before I jump into that, I am going to give you a recap of each company and some links so you can try these meals yourself.

Plated

Plated is the most expensive of the companies  but honestly had the best quality. Plated offers meals for $12 a plate with additional chef selections that are up to $24. It has more weekly selections to choose from compared to the other companies as well as the flexibility to add or subtract servings from week to week. As long as you order 4 plates, which is 2 servings of 2 different dishes for $48, you are good to go. The plan I chose came with 3 meals of 2 servings each and is delivered weekly for $72. And don’t worry; if you decide you do not want a delivery, you can skip it with no fee or penalty. You can also cancel at anytime with no penalty.

To try the recipes I made, click below:

*Seared Steak with Garlicky Potatoes and Greek Salad

*Creamy Tahini and Roasted Red Pepper Spaghetti

*Roasted Lemon-Shallot Halloumi Cheese with Jeweled Israeli Couscous

For Plated, what I really wanted to see in the future delivery was flavor. The two dishes were just “eh” and I wanted them to taste as good as they looked visually.

Blue Apron

Blue Apron is pretty similar to Plated in operation but it works a little different financially. You can order 3 meals for 2 people for a cost of $59.94, which is $9.99 per person. There is also a family plan where you can order 2 or 4 meals for 4 people; the 2 meal plan is $69.92 which is $8.74 per person or the 4 meal plan which is $139.84 (still $8.74 per person). Like Plated, you can skip weeks you don’t want and cancel at any time. Blue Apron has more delivery days though, Wednesday through Saturday, which is nice for flexibility, while Plated just has Tuesday and Friday.

To try the recipes I made, click below:

*Orecchiette Pasta with English Peas, Pecorino Cheese & Mint

*Vegetable Bibimbap with Asparagus, Shiitake Mushrooms & Fried Eggs

*Stewed Mushrooms with Creamy Goat Cheese Polenta & Fresh Herb Salad

For Blue Apron, in my next deliveries I was looking for simplicity and taste. The mushroom dish still makes me gag and bit and I feel it was over complicated.

Hello Fresh

Hello Fresh offers meals for 2,4 and 6 people with options for 3 or 4 meals delivered a week. They have the standard meat/fish/poultry box or a vegetarian box. The box I got was the 3 meals for 2 people, which is $69.99 a week. While this option is pricier than Blue Apron, it is still cheaper than Plated.

To try the recipes I made, click below:

*Tarragon Chicken & Wheat Berry Salad with Radishes, Dried Cherries & Almonds

*Cuban-Style Beef Picadillo with Red Beans & Rice

*Pan-Seared Pork Chops with Apple Compote, Spinach Salad & Crispy Shallots

Hello Fresh exceeded my expectations. Every meal was better than the last and the pork chops were truly great. I got another box purely to eat it.

Final Conclusions:

Hello Fresh was my favorite–hands down. Plated and Blue Apron were pretty even for me and that is why I needed to try them again.

Each company gave me meals to share with my friends! If you are interested, please comment and I will get you some free food!
