I used my Schick Hydro Silk razor for the first time today and while it ultimately got the job done, I had a two qualms.

It definitely did its job. The razors were nice and sharp and cut through the hair quite easily. The body itself is relatively light and made of plastic. It has a really nice grip on the handle and came with a suction cup to hang up in my shower. My favorite part was that I rarely had to go over the same spot twice:

Smooth!

Smooth!

I actually really liked the way the shave ended up. It was a close smooth shave. If based on this alone, I would give the razor a 5 out of 5. However, there were some difficulties.

After one use.

After one use.

The first problem happened after I actually used it. The razor came with this silky moisturizer serum that makes the shave smooth. As you can see, the serum ended up spilling out and then hardening on the outside of the razor. When a razor is reusable, I would expect the moisturizer strip to be able to last more than one shave. I am sure it will soften when wet but then it will probably wash away. While the moisturizer strip really did its job, it just doesn’t seem like it will last very long. My second issue is with the actual size of the razor plate. In some areas it was a bit trickier to maneuver than my previous razor because it is a bit bigger. I had the same issue with other Schick razors, like the intuition.

I would give this razor a solid 3 out of 5. I love Schick and their brand but this razor wasn’t the best for me. I would still prefer to use my Schick Quattro.
